Lucius needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him/her get a new start?
This is a sweet older bird who needs to be in a calmer household than his current foster home. He is a Mealy Amazon, the largest Amazon, specifically a blue crown subspecies, we think. He's had several owners but we're told he's about 30 years old. He does talk a bit and makes a few random video game noises, wolf whistles, etc. He eats pretty well, although still broadening his diet. His special physical attributes include missing toes (he can perch but not great, and benefits from wider surfaces), a beak that is crooked enough to overgrow although he does trim it down himself on rough surfaces (needs textured perches) periodically before it interferes with eating (so far!), and he has a history of plucking his chest and back bald. Some feather regrowth has occurred in the last few months but whether he will ever have full plumage is anybody's guess. He is good with people, and enjoys chilling with his human "flock," including kids and other animals if they are okay with him. He is, however, not a big fan of men or a chaotic household. When voices get loud (whether in postiive or negative emotion), or a lot of bustling activity happens, he makes a noise like a smoke detector. He has been in his current foster home for several months and they had intended to keep him, but he seems to have progressed as far as he can. In this multi-pet, multi-child, multi-adult, busy household, he does get overstimulated or stressed out sometimes. He has calmed from when he arrived last year but just needs more of a quiet family to adopt him. An understanding man who is experienced with parrots would be okay in the household, but needs to be aware that he's just not a fan of men overall, and his primary owner does probably need to be a woman.
